Originally from Haiti, Prajje Jr Jean-Baptiste studied fashion design at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and presented his SS2013 collection this season at the Lincoln Centre in New York. And, he rocked my world. Prajje is full of life, and Chanel bags. Whether we were driving at 7am to the TV station, or drinking gin martinis into the night, Prajje always brought his A game. I’m so glad I met him and his team, especially because his evening wear is quite impressive. I’d be so flattered to wear one of his designs to Toronto Fashion Week this season… who knows, my dream may come true!
For Spring, his collection marks a change of direction. Prajje 1983 is ready to dress the chic, sophisticated women of the most fashionable metropolis, New York City. There was an attention to trends but he kept his commitment to colours. We saw vibrant yellow, fuchsia, deep blues and fiery golds on the runway; and a diaphanous, pastel floral print made the perfect, summer dress.
